You’re invited to check out “Smile Notes” - www.smilenotes.blogspot.com – where you will find loads of G-rated humor which people share with me from all over the country. It’s FREE. Enjoy.
CAROL HERZOG, one of our Southwest Airline ticket agents at the Houston Hobby airport, is a master at handling stressful situations with humor. She’s the kind of person you could send into a near-riot situation and within moments she would have everyone howling with laughter and doing whatever she asked.
We all went to school with people like Carol who could just get away with things that, if we tried ‘em, we’d get killed. Carol is one of these people. She’s a natural.
One evening a big guy, apparently thinking he was late for his flight came rushing up to the gate – huffing and puffing - and blurted out to Carol, “Ma’am, do I have time to go to the restroom?”
Without hesitating, Carol replied, “I don’t know. I never timed you.”
He smiled and then bolted for the restroom. When he returned a few minutes later the first words out of Carol’s mouth were, “Sir, that took you exactly three minutes. If you ever need to know, you’re a three minute bathroom person!”
He then roared with laughter, and he was not alone. I’m sure he’ll never forget Carol, nor will I forget her gift of humor in helping people see the lighter side in tense situations.
